Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the best affordable option for material?

10k gold — it’s strong, durable, and an excellent long-term choice without the higher price tag of 14k or 18k gold. Pair with moissanite for the best value.

Can people tell my diamond is lab grown?

No — lab diamonds are visually and chemically identical to mined diamonds, even to the most trained eye.

Can people tell I have a moissanite instead of a diamond?

Most won’t notice. Only trained jewellers can tell, and even then, it’s due to moissanite’s extra sparkle.

Will my ring lose its sparkle over time?

No — both lab diamonds and moissanite keep their brilliance with simple cleaning.

Is sterling silver really not suitable for everyday wear?

Not for the long term. It’s softer and more prone to damage compared to gold or platinum.

Lab Diamond or Moissanite — Which Should You Choose?

Both lab diamonds and moissanite are beautiful, durable, and ethically made. They’re also fantastic options if you love the idea of a larger stone without the price tag of a mined diamond.

Sparkle: Lab diamonds have the same composition and light performance as mined diamonds — their sparkle is a mix of white flashes and rainbow fire, just like you see in a traditional diamond. Moissanite is famous for its extra rainbow sparkle. Some people adore this firework-like brilliance, while others prefer the subtler look of a diamond.

Hardness: Lab diamonds are the hardest gemstone on earth (10 on the Mohs scale), making them exceptionally resistant to scratching. Moissanite is also very hard (9.25 on the Mohs scale), more than enough for everyday wear.

Price: Moissanite is more affordable — especially in larger sizes. For the same budget, you can often go up a carat or two compared to a lab diamond.

Can people tell? Only people who are knowledgeable about jewellery can reliably tell the difference. You can visually tell because moissanite is so sparkly, but the vast majority of people will be unable to distinguish it. If you’re concerned about that, a lab diamond may be the better choice, as it is visually indistinguishable from a traditional mined diamond even to the most trained eye. They are chemically identical.

Which Metal Should You Choose?

We offer sterling silver, 10k, 14k, and 18k solid gold, as well as platinum. Gold is available in yellow, white, or rose tones — each with its own unique character.

Sterling Silver: The most affordable option, perfect if you’re looking to keep costs low. We do not recommend sterling silver for everyday wear over many years, as it is softer, more fragile, and more prone to damage than gold or platinum. Silver is prone to tarnishing — this is 100% normal and can be polished out easily. If you’re concerned, you can read our full silver care guide for tips.

10k Gold: Our recommended choice if you want the most affordable long-lasting metal. Absolutely worth the upgrade from silver — it’s stronger, more durable, and won’t tarnish like silver can.

14k & 18k Gold: Higher gold content for a richer colour and weight. 14k is a great balance of strength and luxury. 18k has a deeper, more vibrant gold tone and feels beautifully substantial.

White Gold: Rhodium plated for that crisp, bright white finish. Over time, it will need re-plating to maintain its colour — this is normal for all white gold jewellery. If you want a durable white metal that won’t need replating, we always recommend platinum.

Platinum: Naturally white, extremely durable, and hypoallergenic. The ultimate choice for heirloom-quality jewellery and daily wear without extra maintenance.
